Nuclear Option
As of March 2005, this is currently being debated in the US Senate. It is a change in the Senate rules to end a filibuster, which has the effect of forcing a vote on a particular bill or nominee. The current votes needed to end a filibuster is 67 (approximately 2/3 of the 100 total Senators). The so called Nuclear Option would reduce it the number to 60, which is a much easier amount of votes to obtain.
