A more genteel and agnostic term than Creationism, this is the theory that something (perhaps God, the theory does not say that explicitly) created life on earth. The reasoning given is that many aspects of humanity are too complicated to have evolved naturally. It is generally used as an alternate theory to evolution in public school.s
